The hills of Valdobbiadene, a small town in the foothills of Treviso, also called Altamarca, have always offered the scenario of the rows of vines and in the rites of their cultivation. The gesture, the story, the periodicity of this labour, have become tradition and culture to the local people. The benevolent climate and mineral-rich soil have done their bit resulting in the grape quality.

At a time when the genuine pleasures of the wine and ancient farming industry have joined the commercial initiative, the "Prosecco" phenomenon has taken an important position in the context of Italian wine. Produced in an autoclave, called the Charmat or Martinotti method, this sparkling wine from Valdobbiadene from the Conegliano Valdobbiadene area has achieved a reputation of national and international prestige.

The winery today offers a range of Valdobbiadene DOCG territorial sparkling wines ranging from Brut up to the Dry version, passing through “Rive” single vineyards and landing at the Superiore di Cartizze.
In addition to the local varieties, for more than four decades Cantine Umberto Bortolotti offers a series of sparkling wines obtained via the Charmat method as a Charmat Lungo or long Charmat. These wines range from a sparkling wine called the X-Dry Time up to a Chardonnay Brut aged in the bottle for over 8 years called Codice Bortolotti "10-94" are produced to underline its very sparkling wine producing competence.
